Skipping or Crackly Sound.

This is generally a data transfer rate issue but still make sure all drivers and DirectX are up to date. DirectX can be downloaded from www.microsoft.com. This problem usually only occurs on lower spec PCs, particularly when running the software directly from the CD-Rom.

Solutions.

1) Make sure the software is installed and run it from your hard drive.

2) Shut down as many background tasks as possible.

We have had one instance of this problem on a high spec machine (2.8 GHz P4, 1GB Ram, Windows XP Pro). In this case, the soundcard in the PC was a Terratec 5.1 SixPack.
