DirectX Diagnostic
Tool - dxdiag.
DirectX is a Microsoft product which
is free to download. It acts as an interface between software and hardware and
enable software developers to make there programs DirectX compatible rather
than having to worry about every different sound card/graphics card etc.
Dxdiag is the diagnostic tool for
DirectX. It can be used to produce a text file giving a lot of detail about
a PC, installed hardware and drivers for example.
A dxdiag report will give us all
the hardware information we are likely to need when giving technical support.
To produce a dxdiag report:
1) Click START and then RUN.
2) Type 'dxdiag' and click OK. This
will open the diagnostic tool.

3) When dxdiag has finished examining
your system (there is a progress bar at the bottom of the window), click 'Save
All Information'. This will create a text file 'dxdiag.txt', by default it is
saved to the desktop.
